Media Release - Grande Prairie Airport Commission Celebrates Air Terminal Completion
After nearly four years of planning, designing, renovating, and constructing the The Airport Commission invites everyone to a public celebration on Friday September 17, 2010 from 11:00am to 2:00pm for a ribbon cutting ceremony, live music, free barbeque and prize draws! "This event marks a significant milestone in the growth and expansion our airport has experienced under Grande Prairie Airport Commission’s guidance since 1998”, indicates Brian Grant, Commission CEO. “A lot of hard work has gone into the transformation of passenger amenities at our airport, while staying true to our vision of providing exemplary customer service in a low cost air travel environment. The staff, tenants, and contractors have done an amazing job of completing this extensive project while maintaining continuous air travel services for our customers.” The renovation and expansion project was developed and constructed in two phases and included the Air Terminal Building and accompanying parking facilities. Total project cost of $16.5 million is funded from revenues generated by the airport. We welcome our City and Region to join us for a great celebration!
