Electrician (Full Time)
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Manager Operations & Maintenance, maintains, troubleshoots and installs all electrical installations and systems; installs new electrical services and facilities; maintains, repairs and carries out alterations to buildings and structures; carries out detailed aircraft movement areas condition inspections and reporting; operates, services and inspects all equipment used in airport maintenance support; maintains and improves the condition of airport surfaces during all seasons; participates and qualifies in a mandatory Airport Maintenance Training and Certification Programs; participates in the departmental Occupational Health and Safety Program; participates, qualifies and maintains prescribed Fire Fighting status as deemed necessary by the Airport; complies with all relevant safety requirements and procedures regarding the Grande Prairie Airport Safety Management System (SMS), and performs other duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the maintenance of all airfield electrical and navigation aid systems, including series runway and taxi lighting, field regulators and approach lighting.
- Responsible for the maintenance and repair of all building and groundside electrical systems and equipment, generators, switch gear and fire alarm systems.
- Maintains, troubleshoots, and installs electrical installations and systems.
- Operates, services and inspects all equipment used in airport maintenance support.
- Carries out detailed aircraft movement area condition and inspection reporting.
- Performs Aircraft Firefighting (AFF) duties as deemed necessary.
- Maintains and improves the condition of airport surfaces during all seasons.
- Participates and qualifies in a mandatory Airport Maintenance Training and Certification Program.
- Performs other duties as required.
Reporting Structure
The Electrician reports to the Manager of Operations & Maintenance.
Qualifications:
- Journeyperson Electrician Certificate.
- Experience in airfield electrical an asset as well as the ability to work with high voltage.
- Must be able to Obtain and retain a Restricted Radio License (ROC).
- Must be able to Obtain and retain Aircraft Firefighting (AFF) certification.
- Must be able to Obtain and retain a Possession Acquisition Restricted Firearms license.
- Minimum class 5 valid Alberta Driver’s License with air endorsement and must be able to obtain and retain class 3 with air endorsement.
- In addition, the successful candidate must also be able to obtain Airside Vehicle Operating Permit (AVOP).

Schedule:
Monday to Friday 08:00 – 16:30 (subject to change)
The Electrician MUST be able to respond to after hour lighting, signage, electrical emergencies during summer and winter operations.
Drug and Alcohol Policy:
The electrician position is safety sensitive and is subject to the Grande Prairie Airports drug and alcohol policy.
