“438,975 passengers moved through our Air Terminal in 2018 which is an 8.1% increase over the 2017”, says Brian Grant, CEO. We were only 6,710 passengers short of our all-time record of 445,685 set in 2014.
“We also saw an increase in aircraft arrivals and departures of 9% to 36,09. Our scheduled air service flights stayed relatively similar to 2017 so the extra aircraft are a signal that corporate and general aviation has increased likely due to the better economic conditions in the region”, indicates Mr. Grant.
The Grande Prairie Airport sees an average of approximately 1120 seats per day available for travel to and from Calgary. Additionally, another 550 seats per day are available to and from Edmonton.
“Our first month passenger totals for 2019 are indicating continued strong growth similar to the increases we experienced in 2018 which is a positive indicator for the region”, concludes the CEO.
